As with many species of abalone the Paua shell reveals an amazing array of glistening colours now the outer layers have been removed and polished.
Vibrant peacock blues, purples and sea greens shimmer across the surface on these popular shells which can be found in the waters around New Zealand.
Paua is the Maori word for abalone.
The inner surface although not polished has a natural lustre.
With each shell being quite unique and notoriously difficult to photograph because the colours shift and change when gently moved in the light, the images shown are of the actual item to be supplied.
