The attractive and naturally occurring markings of Chinese Tun shell (tonna chinensis) follow that of the growth ridges on the surface.
Belonging to the large Tonnidae family of shells, they are beautifully rounded and are generally a lightweight species of shells. The animal which is often larger than its shell is carnivorous, feeding on fish, urchins, crabs and sea cucumbers.
They inhabit tropical seas and live in moderate to deep water and are common to the Indo-Pacific region.
