Information
The Chicoreus Ramosus shell is also know as a branched or ramose murex.

Externally the shell is coloured white to light brown, whilst the opening is tinged pink towards its inner edge and this flows inwards to a beautifully smooth white inner surface.

These large solid shells have a distinctive ornamental array of short spines that follow their length.

There are 700 known species in this beautiful family of shells and they are noted for their unique shape and curving spines.

Typically feeding on bivalves, shrimp, and sponge among other creatures of similar size, they can be found in sand or mud flats, and on coral reefs.

When the frond-like spines are coated with sea moss, the shell may be completely camouflaged amid rocks or on reefs.

This seashell is common in the shallow reefs of the Indo-Pacific region.

Sold individually.

Size: approx 13 - 14 cm long
