The brightly coloured petal pinks of the beautifully smooth inner surface, are of stark contrast to the rough exterier of this highly sculptured and ornate shell.
Typically feeding on bivalves, shrimp, and sponge among other creatures of similar size, they can be found in sand or mud flats, and on coral reefs.
This seashell is common to inter-tidal waters around the Gulf of California.
