The beautiful Pulcherrima shell has been polished back to reveal the mother of pearl below the shells surface layer, revealing a stunning array of glistening colours.
The Pulcherrima belongs to the Haliotidae family of shells that include abalones, ornmers and sea ears and number in excess of 100 species.
Most are edible rock dwelling shells and can be found in both shallow and deeper waters worldwide.
