Gannets are large black and white seabirds that feed by flying and circling high before plunging into the sea head first at great speeds, this allows them to catch fish much deeper than most birds.
They are colonial breeders on islands and coasts, normally laying one chalky blue egg. It takes five years for gannets to reach maturity.
The most important nesting ground for Northern Gannets is in the United Kingdom with about two thirds of the world's population.
Simple, elegant decoration beautifully hand carved and painted.
