Night Sea - Box Frame
Enchanted by all the sea offers up, Dorset based artist Richard Ward creates wonderfully atmospheric scenes that capture our coastline by using the very items found there.
Using driftwood, drift wire and thread this abstract piece of contemporary environmental art is simply entitled ‘Night Sea’ and is set within an open fronted natural driftwood box frame.

Born out of his love of the coastal environment, this individual and very unique picture has been made from items collected along the Dorset coastline.
Richards’s fascination with the sea and driftwood in particular has led him from cabinet maker to artist, where he creates an interesting range of elegant designer furniture, sculptures and driftwood art.
Richard carefully selects the driftwood for its colour, intriguing texture and organic shape and is endlessly fascinated by the way each piece has been modified and weathered by the sea and nature’s elements.
Based on the south coast near Bournemouth in Dorset he has been making simple decorative works of art based on the sea and coastline for many years and successfully captures the feel of the coast with an uncomplicated naivety.
The frame has been signed by the artist.
