Melongena Shell - Polished

Rich chocolate in colour and really quite delicious to look at.

This polished melongena shell is also known as the Florida Crown Conch and is common to the area and those waters stretching down to Mexico.

The melongena are sea snails and to date there are only three species within this particular group.

They feed on clams, mussels & oysters and live in muddy areas of intertidal waters, that area between low and high tide marks.
