Little Stint Bird Carving - Running
This fine hand carving displays a Little Stint as if running and is mounted upon a natural lime waxed wooden base.
In nature they typically run along the beach stopping frequently to pick up small food items of insects, crustaceans and molluscs.
Little stints have a brownish grey plumage with a bright white underside and this has been beautifully realised in the delicate painting and patina of finish on this fine bird.

Although they do not breed in the UK they can be found on both east and west coast beaches during the autumn. Very few birds spent the winter on our shores, understandable preferring to migrate to Africa during the colder months.
This product has been skilfully hand carved by village craftsmen on the island of Bali in Indonesia which is famous for its tradition of wood carving.
The birds have been beautifully carved and painted and produced under fair trading conditions to benefit the village community as well as the producer. It has been painted using lead free paints and local replaceable softwood.
