This tiny shell features a cream base with a gold to brown ring circling the top.
Cowries in all of their forms are probably the most collected of all shells. This variety in particular has been used as currency and in trading for thousands of years, perhaps as long ago as 2000BC.
The Chinese were possibly the first to use them, obtaining large quantities from the western Pacific Islands.
