Simply set the hand to the full tide position at exactly high tide for your chosen location and then throw away your tide table.
The quartz driven hand will rotate every 12 hours and 25 minutes around the fascia, giving you the state of the tide at a glance. This design also provides an indication of how many hours remain until high or low water.
There are other influences on sea levels that affect exact tide times and the user should take these into account:
-Strong onshore and offshore winds
-Changes in the volume of river flows
-Variations in atmospheric pressure
-The sun's own gravitational pull, when lined up with the moon increases the tidal range, and can alter tide times by up to an hour.
