The tree sits upon a driftwood and hag stone base. Hag stones are pebbles washed up by tides and found along the seashore with naturally formed holes running clean through them.
In folk lore they have long been regarded as a magic charm affording protection and bringing luck and good fortune to those who possess them.
On the Dorset coast, even up until the1940's, hag stones were tied to the bow of fishing boats to protect them from storms and as charms to ward off evil spirits that might prevent a good catch.
Based in the Blackdown hills of Somerset, artist Rosy Reed collects items from as far afield as Cornwall, Pembrokeshire and the coastlines of Devon and Dorset for her driftwood inspirations.
Roaming, collecting and making compositions from the range of materials she gathers is at the core of the rustic and organic pieces of decorative art she creates.
Display as shown or decorate in endless ways throughout the year.
Try using as an ingenious jewellery or accessory tree or perhaps using it as an alternative photograph display by clipping the images to the branches..... Let your imagination run wild.
