The Citta Picca shell has a marbled polished surface of rich black with flecks of white and sage green.
A swath has been cleverly cut into the surface leaving a spiral of mother of pearl beneath.

The citta pica belongs to the large turbininae family of some several hundred species. Most dwell in the shallow waters of warm tropical seas.
This species is also known as a Magpie Shell and comes from the Caribbean and is a well known edible species.
