The graceful Avocet with its slender upturned bill and striking black and white plumage has only started to re-colonise our shores towards the end of the twentieth century.
The tiny population continues to expand spreading the species slowly northward. It feeds on small invertebrates, which it can sift out of the water by sweeping its bill from side to side.
Simple, elegant decoration beautifully hand carved and painted.
