Arrowhead Sand Dollar

Often bleached white by the sun, some of the smaller species of sand dollar are easily mistaken for washed up silver coins glinting in the sunlight.

With a flattened circular body and showing the typical five-star pattern sand dollars are related to sea urchins and sea cucumbers.

They live partly burrowed on the sandy sea floor in the area between high tide and low tide and are found at depths of 30 to 40 feet.

Widespread in all ocean waters of the Northern Hemisphere.
